The objective of SALTO is to stimulate the local public broadcasting and community service in Amsterdam. Except FunX AT5 and the remaining channels called 'Open Channels' (known internationally as "Public Access"). Half hour prime-time TV costs about 15 euros. Many of program providers have been there since 1984. SALTO was therefore also a breeding ground for national radio and television talent.

NostalgieNet is a Dutch pay-TV service. NostalgieNet send images from the forties through the eighties. Each month a specific theme to the central station. Subjects such as sports, fashion, work, food and household are covered. NostalgieNet is to be received by: KPN, UPC, Ziggo, CAIW, KGB, Canal Digital, CAI and HSO.
